All gas work carried out by Plumbway Ltd is performed by a licensed gasfitter registered with the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board (PGDB) — the statutory body that regulates gas fitting in New Zealand. It is illegal for anyone who is not licensed to carry out gasfitting work, and doing so is a criminal offence under the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Act 2006.
When you choose Plumbway Ltd, you can be confident that all gas work is carried out to the highest safety standards, fully compliant with NZS 5261 (Gas Installation) and applicable New Zealand Building Code requirements.

Yes. All gas fitting work in New Zealand must be carried out by a licensed gasfitter registered with the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board (PGDB). It is illegal for unlicensed people to do gas work. Plumbway Ltd's gasfitters are fully licensed and registered, and we issue the appropriate compliance certificates for all gas work we carry out.
Any new gas installation, gas appliance installation, gas pipe alterations, or connection of a new gas supply requires a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) issued by the licensed gasfitter. This applies to both LPG and natural gas systems. Always ask for a CoC when having gas work done — it confirms the work is legal, safe and compliant.
Yes. We work with both LPG (bottled or bulk tank) and natural gas (reticulated supply). LPG is common in rural and coastal areas like Raglan, Morrinsville and surrounding townships where natural gas reticulation isn't available. Natural gas is common in Hamilton city and some larger towns. We'll confirm which supply type suits your property and handle the full installation.
Yes. We install gas hobs, cooktops, ovens and other gas appliances in both existing kitchens and renovations. If you're switching from electric to gas, we can advise on whether a natural gas or LPG connection is the right option for your location, and handle the full installation including the compliance certificate.
A bulk LPG tank is a large above-ground tank installed at your property to store LPG gas in larger quantities — common on lifestyle blocks and rural properties where cylinders would need too-frequent swapping. We can advise on tank sizing, siting requirements and organise the installation with your LPG supplier. All pipework from the tank to the appliances is installed and certified by our licensed gasfitters.
