Same hot showers for up to 70% less power.* Here is how they work, what you could save, and what it costs to switch.
The simple version
It works like the heat pump on your living room wall, in reverse. Instead of burning gas or running a big element, it moves heat from the outside air into your water.
1A small fan and heat pump on top or beside the cylinder draws warmth out of the outside air, even on a cold Waikato morning.
2That heat is transferred into the water in the cylinder. Moving heat takes far less power than making it with an element.
3Your hot water sits in an insulated mains pressure cylinder, ready for showers, the kitchen and the laundry.
Heating water is around 30% of a typical NZ power bill. On a $3,000 a year bill that is about $900. A heat pump cylinder can cut that by up to 70%, roughly $600 a year back in your pocket.*
On a gas califont or bottles? No more bottles running out mid-shower, no bottle swaps, and no gas bill for your hot water.
Mains pressure hot water that does not run out halfway through the second shower. A big step up from an old low pressure system.
If your cylinder is 10 years or older, leaking or playing up, you are paying for a new one soon either way. Go heat pump now and the savings start straight away.
